Select the port of connection of the keyboard (this one must be beforehand installed: under Windows 98 "Configuration panel" - "Multimedia" - "MIDI" - to Add new instrument). When you play a key, the corresponding key on the keyboard in the screen has to change color.

For the keyboards of small size, you could transpose notes of MIDI keyboard by one or two octaves.

It is possible to uncheck the "Notes Sound" option to play silently.

The exit of the sound is always made on speakers, it is thus preferable to cut the sound of the instrument (there is a light gap between both).
